AI Guiding Principles

AI-What is it?  How does it work?

What is it?

It is a type of artificial intelligence that can understand and generate natural language text.

How does it work?

It is trained on large amounts of text data (Large Language Model -- LLM).

It then uses this data to learn the patterns and structure of language.

Once it has learned enough about language, it can generate its own text based on a given prompt or topic.

What's behind it?

It uses an algorithm called a transformer to learn how to generate text that simulates human conversation.

This algorithm is based on a neural network, which is a type of computer program that is designed to mimic the way the human brain works.

What is it called?

GPT stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformers.

This refers to the type of algorithm behind many different services, including ChatGPT, Claude, Llama, Bard, Bing AI, and others.

AI and Information Literacy

AI Literacy is similar to Information Literacy

  • Inquiry-Prompt Generation
  • Selecting the Right Resource--To AI or not and if yes, which one?
  • Explore and Interrogate Findings Generated by AI
  • Evaluate/Crosscheck/Determine Appropriateness
  • Synthesize Ideas-Existing Knowledge into new insights or product
  • Express Findings-Clear, Relevant, Ethically Created and Shared

Goals for Understanding AI
