Library Advisory Council (LAC)

Mission Statement

The mission of the Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) Library Advisory Council (LAC) is to support the WWCC Library by providing recommendations led by a faculty group of members to uphold the goal of ensuring that the WWCC Library has proper resources that WWCC Faculty need to teach their respective student populations strategically and efficiently.

We as Faculty LAC members from a variety of disciplines will strive to represent the rest of WWCC Faculty to have a direct line of communication with the WWCC Library Director and Librarians.

We as Faculty LAC members will strive to achieve measurable impacts to see a substantial increase in the usage of library resources by Faculty across a variety of disciplines with the hope of seeing quality resources available for current or future use by Faculty and the students they serve.

Walla Walla Community College: Library Advisory Council Charter-Draft

Name

The name of this unit shall be referred to as The Library Advisory Council or in its abbreviated form LAC.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) Library Advisory Council (LAC) is to support the WWCC Library by providing recommendations led by a faculty group of members to uphold the goal of ensuring that the WWCC Library has proper resources that WWCC Faculty need to teach their respective student populations strategically and efficiently.

We as Faculty LAC members from a variety of disciplines will strive to represent the rest of WWCC Faculty to have a direct line of communication with the WWCC Library Director and Librarians.

Membership Council Representation

Full-Time Faculty will have a two-year renewable term on the council.

Officers

The LAC elects a Chair and a Vice Chair from its membership to serve one-year terms.

  • Once the elected Vice Chair has completed their term, they are immediately moved into the role of Chair to serve another one-year term as the Chair.
  • Afterward, the council needs to vote for a new Vice Chair to take on the role of the vacated seat.

  1. Schedule

Meetings

    • Regular meetings held by the WWCC LAC shall take place on the Third Wednesday of every month.
  1. Special Meetings
    • Special meetings or emergency meetings can be scheduled as needed in dire situations on a case-by-case basis.
  2. Quorum
    • Four members shall constitute a quorum for general meeting discussions.
    • When a vote is required as part of the agenda, a minimum of four voting members are required to constitute a voting quorum. A majority of those present voters are needed to act on any item coming before the WWCC LAC.

Amendments

This charter may be revised or amended at any regular or special meetings by the voting members of the WWCC LAC if all voting members are present. A consensus vote by voting members is required to revise or amend the WWCC LAC Charter.
